Summary:
Typhoid Mary reports to Doom her attempts to uncover for him the secret of
Kymellian technology from the Power Pack. As she relates her story she reveals
that at one point she almost killed the Power Pack's father. Doom becomes
outraged. He reprimands her for almost turning the Power Pack into orphans
the way he was once long ago. Doom then briefly recounts the tale of how
his own father died saving his life. Finally Typhoid Mary reveals that her
only interest in helping the Doctor was to use the whole scenario to gain
a psychological edge on Doom. With her new found knowledge, she departs leaving
Doom pensive.
Comments:
Although this is primarily a Power Pack story, rightly so, the secondary story
between Doom and Typhoid Mary I found to be the main attraction and far more
interesting. It is a rare story displaying Doom's affection for his father
and the gravely under appreciated sacrifice he made that Doom should live.
So much signifigance is given to the mother he never really knew and so little
to the father that he undoubtbly spent much more time with. This rare acknowledgement
of the importance of Doom's father makes this in my opinion a must buy.
