Summary:
Using a newly constructed Timebot, Doom captures Thor’s hammer so that
he can harness its magical power to fuel a device that will stop time. By turning
the device on while inside Latveria Doom hopes that it will freeze everyone
in the vicinity thus allowing him to physically remove Kristoff from power.
However Doom underestimates Kristoff who has already anticipated Doom’s
plan and has prepared for it. Meanwhile, Eric Masterson [Thor’s mortal
host] accompanied by Hercules and the She-Hulk battle with the real Doom’s
Doombots and eventually destroy the time freezing device. This results in the
Latverian guard rallying to Kristoff’s aid and forcing Doom to flee.
Comments:
A solid and enjoyable story. Its interesting to see Doom get the better of
Thor. Tom De Falco provides Doom with a surprisingly good characterization.
Doom’s plan shows intelligence and cunning. The Doom presented here is not the
desperate and almost infantile one portrayed in
FF#312. I also
enjoyed how the second issue was structured. Doom is entirely occupied with his
own plot and doesn’t even know what’s happening behind his back. With Doom and
Thor rarely facing off, Bottom Line: Buy It
