Comments:

Do you like Secret Wars? If you do you will like this, maybe even more so. What's the connection? Simple, Secret Wars existed in order to tie into the Secret Wars toy line just as this comic is supposed to. The characters here, like in Secret Wars, are broken down into their most basic archetypes. Tony Stark is rich and smart. Peter parker is funny and a smart ass. Cap is patriotic and a stereotypical leader, and Ghost Rider...well he just talks about vengeance. Oh and of course Hulk smashes, Doc Ock is bad and Doom...well he's bad too. What does he want? Who cares, he's bad. So what we have here Doom fans is your average Doom villain characterization. Although he doesn't appear in this issue, you can tell already they are prepping for this. MARVEL certainly deserves props for actually incorporating the title into continuity. The title superficially takes place in the regular MARVEL Universe yet it makes one big flub, Doom is dead right now. Or at least he was before House of M. The date on this issue is October possibly implying that Doom will survive House of M, however we will have to wait and see. The comic is a light and fun read. Be warned however, the origin of the Mega Morphs is not presented here. For that you will need to buy the toy which comes with its own packaged comic. Bottom Line: Read It

Red Ronin! I have to give serious props to Scott McKeever for this. The man knows his stuff. Keeping the SHIELD connection alive is real cool and makes for a nice little Nick Fury appearance. Here's hoping for something from Dum Dum soon. Although strictly speaking this is not a major appearance for Doom, the fun and easy story telling and this nice little nod to continuity makes this a Bottom Line: Buy It!
