Writer - Jeff Parker

Summary:

Reed Richards travels to the furthest regions of space visiting worlds that have been hosts to the alien species H'Mojen. The alien species has come to Earth and is quickly bonding with all of humanity and becoming a collective being. The rest of the Fantastic Four, along with Spider-Man filling in for Reed, attempt to find a way to stop the Imperator, the being who is facilitating the merge. Seeing the resistance that humans are posing, the Imperator unleashes giant Insectoids to quell their rebellion. Back at FF Headquarters, Sue detects heightened activity in the country of Transia, home of the High Evolutionary. She gets the idea that perhaps he has technology which could combat the alien. Picking up the team, they travel to Wundagore Mountain and help the New Men fight back their attackers. One of their elders shows them a device left by the High Evolutionary. Spider-Man tries to figure out how to work it, but suggests instead that they take the device to Dr. Doom who will surely be able to figure it out. The team reluctantly act on the idea and Doom quickly agrees to help once it is suggested that Reed has not been able to figure out the device. Doom provides them with a gun which they can use on the Imperator's machine while he works on a way to create a shield to preserve human DNA globally. As the team face off against the Imperator, Spider-Man becomes ill.

Notes:

  • Cameo only

  • Ben mentions that Doom got him killed, see Unthinkable.

  • Doom states that he is using his knowledge of the occult to fend of the H'Mojen influence. Curiously Dr. Strange was not able to.

  • Collected in Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four: Silver Rage (pictured below)

Comments:

Just a small cameo. Its kind of funny, since Doom is shooting at his own people. Its also fun how Doom agrees once he hears that Reed can't figure something out. Doom doesn't appear in the first two issues, and he doesn't show up in the last issue, so there isn't much reason to recommend this for Doom fans.

Bottom Line:  N/A
