Summary:
Looking to make front page news, the Human Torch rushes into the Latverian embassy to confront Dr. Doom. He is quickly frozen in a block of ice by Doom's defenses. For his intrusion, Doom plans to kill Torch and send his remains back to the Fantastic Four. Fortunately Torch hired Peter Parker to trail him as a personal photographer and Parker follows Torch in as Spider-Man. Spider-Man convinces Doom that he will swear loyalty to him if he can have the pleasure of killing the Torch himself. Doom agrees. Instead of killing Torch, Spider-Man escapes from the embassy grounds with the frozen Torch in tow.
Comments
Just a brief light-hearted appearance. The tone of the series is clearly meant to be fun, not to be taken to seriously. I haven't read all the issues, but from what I see in this issue and my brief perusal of the others, it seems like a fun read. Kudos to Dan Slott for the Amazing Spider-Man #5 reference.
Notes:
Cameo Only
The story takes place "10 years ago" and shortly after Amazing Spider-Man #5, which is referenced when Spider-Man offers to become partners with Doom. See Amazing Spider-Man #5.
