Doctor Doom, the Kingpin, the Wizard, the Red Skull, the Mandarin, and Magneto. They are some of the most ruthless and most powerful villains on the planet. Unknown to any of them, they were all brought together by Loki, the Norse God of Mischief. Posing as one of their lackeys and pretending to be but one of their humble servants, Loki maneuvered the super-villains into battling each other's foes and ordering other villains to do the same. In this way, heroes who are accustomed to battling a particular foe would be taken by surprise by the tactics and skills of another. The alliance between the villains was uneasy to say the least. The glue which kept the group together was the belief held by each member that they were the ones who were truly controlling the group. None of them ever suspected that Loki was in fact the deceiving them. Group stayed together until tensions between the Red Skull (a Nazi) and Magneto (a Holocaust survivor) became unbearable. This event occurred during the Doom / Kristoff war which time eventually revealed was in fact raged by a Doombot. After the real Doom's return from unknown adventures, it is unclear how many of Doom's appearances during this period can be attributed to the Doombot. One appearance called into question is Doom's unexpected trip into the future year of 2093. It seems unlikely that Merlin the sorcerer would have pulled a robot Doom to fight another robot Doom, thus one possible explanation would be that Merlin pulled the true Doom from wherever he was at the time and the malfunctioning Doombot was only led to believe that he had undertaken the journey. This would further explain Doom's prompt reappearance after this event.
