Doombots:
Guardian Class
(Servo-Guards):
The main duty of this class of Doombot is to keep the Latverian population in check and in Latveria. They serve as Latveria's first line of defense from attacks without and within. They are both army and police force. So effective are they, King Zorba continued to use them as Latveria's police force during his reign. Even during Doom's frequent absences, these Doombots carry out important duties. Among them are to insure the safety of Doom's gypsy kin, the Zefiro, by stationing themselves around their camps. Additionally they safeguard his secrets by placing technology from his lab inside a teleportation matrix. The robots are programmed to use all types of Doom-created weaponry, including Electro-Shock pistols, Insulato-Shields, and many others. This class of Doombot is "humanized" meaning that at times they seem to exhibit real human emotions such as fear of Doom's wrath should they fail in their duty. Although Doom is constantly working on creating more advanced robots, this class has remained a staple of his armory.

Decoy Class:
The Decoy class Doombot (despite the images on the left) is the hardest to identify. The purpose of the Decoy class is to deceive everyone they interact with into believing they are face to face with the real Doom. More than any other class of Doombot, the Decoys have an enormous amount of autonomy. The Decoy class Doombots demonstrate a level of artificial intelligence which has even taken its creator by surprise. Apart from fulfilling a basic security protocol of keeping Doom from having direct contact with various antagonists unless necessary, the Decoy class is frequently used by Doom to engage in missions where destruction is certain. Decoy class Doombots are imbued with an exact replica of Doom's mind. These Doombots are programmed to believe they are Doom when the real Doom is not present. For this reason Doom frequently leaves a Doombot to run the day to day ruling of Latveria. Latverians often don't know that the Doom on their throne is in fact a Doombot. The sheer number of Doombots in Doom's arsenal allows him to have various plans in progress without having to be physically present for all of them.
Because of their advanced artificial intelligence, this class of Doombot is more prone to going rogue. Following Doom's apparent death, Doombots were left with instructions to make Kristoff his successor and imbuing him with all of Doom's memories. However Kristoff's young mind came to believe that he was the real Doom and interrupted the process before it could be complete. Kristoff engaged in lengthy war with what everyone believed to be the real Doom but was in fact a rogue Doombot who also came to believe itself to be the real Doom. When Doom finally returned from an extended sojourn in time, he released Kristoff's mind and deactivated the rogue Doombot.
It has also been known for Doombots to be appropriated by others. The super-villain group known as the Headmen found one in the sewers and reprogrammed it to serve their needs. Also the criminal Armada found another and programmed it to attend the super-villain Stiltman's wake in order to impress the dead villain's widow.
Killer Class:
The Killer Class Doombots are characterized by their hunchback appearance and uncontrollable penchant for destruction. At first created as part of a secret army, these robots became unstable and began a rampage through the Latverian countryside. Their attacks culminated in Doomstadt where Reed used a hidden control unit to trigger a turbulence pressure engine to hurl them into a nearby lake. This revealed a defect in this class of Doombot, their enormous weight impairs their ability to swim. Years later during the reign of Prince Zorba, he unleashed these robots in order to defeat the Fantastic Four and a returning Doctor Doom. Their weakness in the water was apparently resolved because a variation of this class was used to attack the Avengers Hydrobase. This attack launched from the sea successfully resulted in the base's destruction.

Fantastic Four #247 vol. 1
Avengers #311 vol.1

Turret Class:
This class of Doombot deceptively masquerades as a adornment on the turrets of Castle Doom. These Doombots had flight capabilities allowing them to take to the skies at a moments notice. A feature of Doom's second castle, this class of Doombot has not been included in the architecture of more recent iterations of the castle.
Appearances:
Fantastic Four vs. The X-Men #3 - First Appearance
Silver Sable #4
Swarmbot Class:
The Swarmbots are small
yet highly maneuverable flight based robots. They are designed to be used in
large number in order to "swarm" their
target (s). Their most deadly feature is their ability to reconstruct themselves
from the pieces of their defeated brethren. Doom used this feature when he
ordered an assault on the FF building. After all the robots had been defeated,
sections from various defeated Swarmbots came together again and managed to
kidnap Franklin Richards.
Appearances:
Fantastic Four Annual #20

Mecha Class:
These specialized Doombots were built specifically to battle the MegaMorphs. With increased size these Mecha class bots also carry increased firepower and flight capabilities in order to keep pace with the Stark designed MegaMorphs. |
Other Doombots
Apart from his own Decoy-Class Doombots, Doom has also created robot duplicates
of various other people, mostly heroes. These robots are also used for decoy
purposes and rarely for the benefit of the person duplicated. Among the heroes
Doom has duplicated are the Incredible Hulk (twice), Bucky
Barnes, Clive Reston, and the Thing.
Not limited to heroes, Doom has on occasion for reasons known only to himself,
created
robot
duplicates
of villains. Villains that have been duplicated include the Yellow
Claw, Shaka
Kharn, and Shadow-Stalker.
