Namor, The Sub-Mariner
First Appearance: Marvel Comics #1

The hybrid son of an Atlantean woman and a surface human, Namor is a powerful mutant both above and below the sea. Doom first sought Namor out after his first defeat at the hands of the Fantastic Four. By convincing him that Atlantis’ people had been wiped out by the underwater testing of an H-Bomb by surface-dwellers, Doom managed to reignite his thirst for vengeance. With Namor on board, Doom enlisted him in a scheme to plant a device in the Baxter Building which would launch it into space. Namor did this, but was betrayed by Doom when he activated the device with him inside. Despite this betrayal, Namor believed that together, he and Doom could take over the world and later sought an alliance with him. Although uninterested at first, Doom eventually agreed to team-up. The alliance was shaky and relatively short-lived. But in that time the two battled together against Attuma, Professor Dorcas, Tiger-Shark, Andros (the Doomsman), and the Red Skull. Ultimately Namor desired to break free of his bargain with Doom, a task which proved easier said than done. By this time, Namor had found his fellow Atlanteans only to lose them again to a coma inducing nerve-gas. He himself had also contracted a condition which severely limited his ability to remain out of water. In the course of ending their pact Doom cured Namor and his people.

Some time later, Doom briefly renewed their alliance when he asked Namor to place psycho-prisms on the three beings that could not be affected by his global mind-controlling scheme. After completing this task, Doom once more betrayed Namor and placed him under his control until the world was freed by the Avengers. When Reed Richards was presumed dead, Namor leant his aid to the Fantastic Four and eventually joined them as they quested to discover is the former team leader was truly deceased. Their journey led them to discover Dr. Doom, also believed dead, imprisoned by Hyperstorm. Although Namor and Doom did not ally themselves on this occasion, Namor was present as both Doom and the Fantastic Four struggled against Hyperstorm. Shortly after this crisis, Namor once more found himself unwillingly allied with Doom. On this occasion, the Sub-Mariner ironically aided Doom against a future version of Doom traveling back in time from the year 2099. This Doom 2099 ravaged the ocean depths in order to mine a drug which would help save Latveria in the future. Doom and Namor managed to imprison Doom 2099 only for a short time before he escaped them both and returned to his future.

After his involvement in the super-hero Civil War and a subsequent terrorist attack perpetuated by a rogue cell of Atlanteans, Namor was forced to evacuate and destroy Atlantis. While ordering his people to hide and blend in among surface dwellers, he has seemingly renewed relations with Doom and moved his Atlantean army to Latveria. Both Namor and Doom were invited to join Norman Osborn's Cabal, a group of highly placed super-villains with a loose agreement to work together. The Cabal members loyalties to one another were tenuous at best. Namor and Doom pursued their own agendas despite Osborn's sincere desire for the group to work together. Namor found himself drawn
