issue-29-31 [vol3]
writer-Chris Claremont
penciler-Salvador Larroca
Summary:
Life seems to get back to normal among the
FF, relatively. Reed is still trapped inside of Doom's armor and
pretending to be the missing monarch. After first dealing with a
situation in New Mexico, the FF then travel to Latvaria where the
Latverian people await the return of their monarch. Sue worries about
Reed whom she discovers
is no longer trapped inside Doom's armor but willingly staying inside.
While in Latvaria Reed pushes Sue further and further away while using
Ben and Johnny as chess pieces. For instance making them fight off
hordes
of Doombots for his own amusement. The revelation that Reed is becoming
unhinged is further compounded by the fact that the real Doom is
communicating
with Sue through her dreams. The real Doom pleads with her to help him
stop
her own husband. The climax is a chase through castle Doom and a face
to
face match between Reed and Doom.
Comments:
Issue number 31 is without a doubt a must read for all Doom fans. For
the first time in awhile, I think, Doom comes out on top. Also, I
don't know if I had mentioned it, but I like the art too. Ben looks
awesome and Doom's armor looks great. His non-armor look has
a medieval flavor. The only thing is this one panel at the end of issue
31 when they draw Doom's face plate a little funky. Aside from that it
was an entertaining story arc. The best part of it was of course the
climax. Bottom Line: Buy It
