Summary:

A pair soldiers search the ruins of Doomstadt for a missing child. Suddenly, they are attacked by a horde of killer robots. The two fall back to call for help and spy a silhouette on the castle ramparts. At the headquarters of the Avengers, Cassie Lang aka Stinger, learns that the Fantastic Five have been called in to investigate the incident. She asks Human Torch if the Avengers can go instead, to which he agrees. The team travel to Latveria where they are similarly attacked. After dispatching them, they proceed to search the catacombs beneath the castle. Eventually Stinger breaks off from the group to search on her own. Through the underground ducts, she discovers Doom and the missing girl but suddenly the rest of the Avengers break in ready to attack. Stinger stops them stating the she doesn't believe this Doom to be the real. Removing his mask, Stinger is proved right, Doom is in fact Kristoff. Kristoff explains that following Doom's disappearance, he has taken it upon himself to safeguard all of Doom's technology away from those who would exploit it for their own gain. For that reason, his existence must remain a secret. The team return to the outskirts of Doomstadt and reunite the girl with her mother. As the team prepares to leave, Castle Doom erupts in a cackle of energy and explodes completely.

Comments:

Another fun little romp from the MC2 universe. This issue actually sets up Fantastic Five quite nicely. I definitely recommend if you're going to read F5 #5, read this first. Its not required reading, but they compliment one another nicely. As I said in my comments for F5 #5, its nice to see a progression in the character of Kristoff and a continuation of his romance with Cassie. Bottom Line: ** out of 5
