Summary:
Spider-Man presses Fury for the truth behind Doom's presence. Fury begins by describing how Reed Richards proposed to send probes to other dimensions to retrieve data for study at the Baxter Building. He rejected the idea but in reality only wanted SHIELD to see the data first. When SHIELD techs were unable to hack into Reed's probes, he contacted Doom to reprogram the probes to send the data to SHIELD and then the Baxter Building. Meanwhile inside the Pentagon, Emil Burbank, the smartest man of the Squadron Supreme universe, explains to a supposedly unconscious Reed that he was a fall guy. The military needed someone to blame for the release of the virus Burbank created to kill Hyperion. The military chose Reed's probe which they found. After hearing his full confession, Reed captures Burbank and attempts to get out of the building. The X-Men then appear offering to get him out. Suddenly a second, slightly different, Squadron Supreme appear.
Notes:
Except for one page, Doom appears entirely in Flashback.
Ultimate Power #7 was solicited
with a different cover (possibly to keep Doom's appearance a secret?).

Summary:
The Squadron Supreme from two universes clash, each one asking the same questions. The X-Men and Ultimates in the middle, fight both teams. Amongst the carnage, Doom clashes with Iron Man and reveals it is his intention to take over this alternate world. After defeating Iron Man, Doom is then tackled by Thing. Thing promptly rips his armored hands off revealing that Doom is in fact a robot. Aboard the SHIELD Helicarrier, Fury releases the Hulk into the battle.
Comments:
Its all Doom's fault! That's the big reveal here. Out of nine issues, Doom only shows up in three, and barely at that. The art however is really nice. Greg Land who first reinterpreted Ultimate Doom in the pages of Ultimate Fantastic Four, essentially gives more of the same, which is fine by me. There isn't a lot here. However if you're big on the Ultimate Universe and/or Ultimate Doom, definitely pick this up. Personally, I'm not a fan of the Ultimate universe. Consequently I am also confused as to when this takes place. Before or after his appearance in Frightful? I assume this is before because he's off to the Zombie-verse at the end of that arc. Although Ben does express some surprise at his appearance there. But then again that could just be that he just meant that he wasn't expecting to see Doom there. Bottom Line: ** out of 5
