Summary:

The Net Prophet returns from his travels around the world to see Father Jennifer. His entrance surprises Loreen who was kneeling in prayer to God, asking for a sign. He tells Jennifer that he feels no closer to learning the purpose for his presence in this world. Hearing of Loreen's trouble with her husband, Net Prophet decides to intercede and talk to Kenny. He instantly travels to the street where Kenny is about to fall to his death and saves him by transporting both Kenny and himself into the ocean. When they make it to shore, Kenny interprets events that he must now believe in the Net Prophet. The Net Prophet tries to explain to him that he's just a man, as is Spider-Man. Their powers make them different, but not Gods. They're still just men who sleep, breathe, and bleed. He attempts to convince him that he is just as much an agent of God as anyone else. He should believe in himself. Finally he reunites Kenny with Loreen. The Net Prophet leaves them. In departing he tells Father Jennifer that he doesn't know if his intercession had any long term effect, but for the short term, he saved one life.

Summary:

Deep beneath the ocean, Alchemax workers around the Atlantis installation uncover a buried soviet submarine. Knowing of Miguel's specialization in 20th century technology, Tyler Stone flies him in to assist in the investigation. Tyler introduces him to the person in charge of the excavation, Christa Devane. Unknown to Miguel, Alchemax has found several people kept in stasis aboard the sub. Instead of waiting for Miguel to retrieve the relevant data from the sub's records, Tyler orders Devane to continue to awaken one of the subjects. Meanwhile, Miguel learns that the cargo of the sub was a group of para-human commandos. Donning his Spider-Man costume, he arrives at Devane's lab in time to see Chernobyl revived. Believing himself to be in the nest of his enemies Chernobyl begins to lash out at everything and calling out for America's heroes. After slicing away at some of his equipment, Chernobyl reveals that his power source will explode and take the city with him. Chernobyl chooses to leave and spare the city. Soaring upwards, he hopes the low temperature of the atmosphere will act as a coolant. From the city, Spider-Man glimpses an explosion and assume the worst. He then quickly returns to the facility to avoid anyone connecting both his and Miguel disappearance. Later, in Siberia, a guard challenges a solitary figure who approaches. Chernobyl lives.

Notes:

  • Among the heroes that Chernobyl was looking to fight are Captain America, the Thing, and the Hulk.
