Title - Bad Seed
Writer - Fred Van Lente

Summary:
Trapped inside of Dr. Doom's body, Franklin Richards is helpless to stop Doom from carrying out his plans while in his own body. At school, Doom manages to scare off bullies and tries to alienate Jack Power. At the Baxter Building, Doom calls the team together to show off how he has reprogrammed HERBIE. The robot suddenly attacks and disables the team. Jack, suspecting something is wrong with Franklin, visits the Baxter Building to investigate; he is confronted by the altered HERBIE. When Jack awakens, he finds that Doom has placed servo-discs on the FF so that they will obey his commands, and he orders them to eliminate Jack. The Power Pack suddenly burst in and begin to fight the mind-controlled FF. Jack realizes that the servo-discs are controlling the team and takes one off of Thing and places it on Franklin. The disc places Franklin and Doom back in control of their own bodies. Franklin quickly leads the pack to the lab where Doom was being held and coordinates the team's action so that they easily open a portal to the Negative Zone and push Doom through the gateway. With everything back to normal, Reed and Sue agree to allow Franklin to attend public school with his new friends, and he is made a member of the Power Pack.
Comments:
Cute, light, fun, and well written.
If I had a young one, I'd probably buy them this series. Its kid-friendly enough
for the kid, and its got enough humor and action to keep me interested. Doom is
actually not half bad here. His reasons for switching places with Franklin
actually makes sense. He wants to deliver a psychological victory by making Reed
think he's lost his son. Actually, he expresses an interest in taking Franklin
and warping him to become his own heir. Not bad, not bad at all.
Bottom Line: ** out of 5
Notes:
Collected in Fantastic Four and
Power Pack: Favorite Son (pictured below. I've seen an alternate cover
floating around for this, I'm pretty sure the one on the left is the legit
one. The one on the right could be a variant or perhaps the cover used for a
non-digest sized copy that was released...don't know )
