Comments:

A series of short cameos lead to a memorable futuristic re-interpretation of Doom. The reveal at the end of issue 38 is in my mind classic. I don't like to rate cameos, but this one is excellent. I find it interesting how late 80s early 90s future interpretations of Doom all skew towards making Doom more robotic. The Doom from Iron Man #250 was also more machine than man. Likewise, Doom 2099 was more closely bonded with his armor than his present-day self. I wonder, with the current trend of showing Doom's mystical side, will we ever see a future Doom who sheds his dependence on technology and extends his life via magic instead?
